Serious MS Outlook Vulnerability Found

A serious vulnerability in Microsoft Outlook has recently been discovered. “This vulnerability (tracked as CVE-2023-23397) allows attackers to access your network by simply emailing you. The email does not have to be opened and read for the attack to succeed.” The exploit is rated at 9.8 out of of 10 and attacks part of the Outlook authentication system. This makes it very dangerous.

The fix is to immediately download the most recent Microsoft Outlook security updates. You should be able to update your Outlook without professional assistance by starting at the Microsoft page located here. At the bottom of this page are link s ot the specific updates you may need.

These updates only affect users who have packaged versions of Outlook. Users who have it through Office 365 Professional are automatically updated.
