Dominant Systems Guide to Choosing the Right HP Zbook Model

HP, Inc. is world renowned for their Zbook series of portable engineering workstations. As one of Michigan's premiere HP dealers, we are pleased to offer the entire line of Zbook systems as the well as HP’s Z-series line of desktop and rack-mounted engineering workstations. Here is a guide to the different Zbook notebook-style models, starting with the least powerful and ending with the most powerful.

1.       Zbook Firefly G10 and G10A - These are HP's entry level Zbook models. They are great for 2D and 3D model reviews and light engineering work. They're also relatively cost effective. These systems are available with Intel or AMD processors.  They come standard with NVMe SSDs up to 1TB, and they support up to 64GB memory. They are available with 14” or 16” displays. Some models have AMD Radeon or Nvidia graphics cards with 4GB dedicated video memory.

2.       Zbook Power G10 and G10 A – When you need a little more in the CPU department, these HP Power G10 (Intel-based) and G10A (AMD based) systems are the answer. The Intel based systems offer up to 14 cores, and the AMD versions have up to 8. These systems support 64GB but the specific models I was looking at all seemed to use 16GB modules. With only 2 memory slots you will be pulling at least one of these modules if you need to get to 64GB. As far as graphics cards go, you can get version with Nvidia RTX graphics support with up to 8GB dedicated video memory. They come standard with NVMe SSDs up to 1TB.

3.       Zbook Studio G10 - These systems can be purchased loaded with features and can really pack a punch when it comes to graphics and engineering. All models include a 16-inch display, and some include an Nvidia RTX 4000 graphics card with 12GB of memory. These systems are relatively light as well and weigh under 4 lbs. They can be ordered with up to 64GB memory combined with your choice of 14-core I7 or I9 Intel processors.

4.       Zbook Fury – As HP says in their marketing materials, “They are so powerful, you’ll forget they are laptops”. These are the only portable workstations with 4 memory sockets, and they can be ordered with up to 128GB of memory. SSDs sizes range from 512GB to 2TB. Options include a 12GB Nvidia RTX 4000A and Intel processor options with up to 24 cores.
