Book Description
This calculus supplement explores the basic concepts and techniques of second-semester calculus through the computer algebra system (CAS) Mathematica. This collection of computer-based laboratories emphasizes a level of experimentation, visualization, and computation that cannot be duplicated in a traditional classroom setting. The laboratories are written for use with Mathematica version 2.0 running a Notebook front end. Each lab is designed to be completed in approximately two hours. These books present a series of laboratories based on topics from single-variable and multi-variable calculus. The laboratories make use of Mathematica notebooks written by the authors to take advantage of the graphing and symbolic computational features of that computer algebra system. In each laboratory, students explore basic concepts and techniques of calculus that roughly parallel the development of topics in a standard calculus course.
