Book Description
Introduction to MathCAD is part of Prentice Hall's ESource Series, a unique publishing system designed to give professors optimal control over their courseware. ESource allows you the freedom to create your own textbook using only the topics necessary for your class. The process is simple: on the ESource website, you construct a book by combining any of the chapters from any of the numerous titles in the series. You can personalize the book even further by integrating your own material into the text flow. The end product is a professionally formatted text that is molded to fit the exact needs of your class. Of course, any of the ESource books can also be adopted as individual texts, or shrink-wrapped together with other titles in the series. ESource Series: Introduction to Java, Stephen J. Features * Introduces Mathcad's basic mathematical and data analysis functions (e.g., trigonometric, regression, and interpolation functions) using easy-to-follow examples, then applies the functions to examples drawn from emerging or rapidly developing fields in engineering. * Teaches users how to make use of Mathcad's special features, such as solve blocks for iterative solutions, QuickPlots to visualize functions, and working problems with units. * Exercise problems that have been designed to cover a variety of engineering disciplines. * Themes of Chapter openers are often integrated with application examples, and exercise problems to sustain student interest and involvement.
Customer Reviews & Comments
This book was very hard for me to use for 2 major reasons: 1 The software being used by me was a Macintosh version and Mathsoft, the software manufacture, has made only Windows products for years, 2 The answers are not to be found in the book but only on an extra cost CD and, thus, as I was working alone, not in a formal class, identification of `where' an error had come from was quite difficult. The first problem was foreseen and is `The Macintosh Problem' ... that is for 80% of those things for which a computer is useful there is either no software or precious little. The second is a real shortcoming of the book. It is my humble opinion that `its really a textbook' is no defense as the book is on the general market. I have given this book a mark of three stars based upon the lack of an answer sheet. Otherwise the book is well made although the print is a bit small for my less then 20/20 vision. In line with many texts the paper is thin [but strong] so that a spill of coffee on an early page is sure to greet you again and again ... Actually this is a nice book. Maybe I `hoped to much' trying to apply it to the Mac but, hey, with clear step by step answers a person with `normal intelligence' could have doped it out in jig time however as this entire series of books is rather `a cheat sheet for profs' <grin> ...
