This book covers typical administrative tasks such as setting up and configuring servers, adding new users to your network, and using Linux with other operating systems. It also covers writing scripts to automate everyday tasks and using Linux as an Internet server with Apache. The included CD-ROM contains GNU tools, useful scripts, and other utilities specifically designed for administrators.
Customer Reviews & Comments I can't even count the number of administration manuals I usually have to look through before I find a simple answer to a problem I am having (I guess that is why I own so many computer books... no one book ever has the complete answer). Most "Guides" usually live up to their name and are simply only "guides". They lead you in the right direction but never actually ever get you to the destination and rarely offer a specific recipe for your problem. But the "Red Hat Linux Administrators guide" by Kerry Cox is different. This is one guide that makes up for a handfull of others. Just today I used it to solve a problem with NFS... and it took only moments to find the complete answer! No Shuffling and crossreferencing a half dozen books. This is a great book!
