Product Description
How to Install Linux for Red Hat Linux covers the entire installation process of Red Hat Linux 6.1 from both the text-based approach and using the new GUI-based installation program. The two CD-ROMs include the Red Hat Linux 6.1 version of the Linux Operating System and a Bonus CD with selected Red Hat PowerToolsTM and other handy files. Information covered in How to Install Linux for Red Hat Linux includes: New GUI Installation Process, Partitioning Your Hard Drive, Package Management with RPM, System Administration, System Configuration, Latest stable 2.2.X Kernel, Automatic Hardware Detection, and GNOME & KDE Window Managers.
Customer Reviews & Comments The book does cover some details on Linux configuration : both the text-based approach and using the new GUI-based installation program. If for a end usr just using linux for personal use, it would be a good book. However, if you try to find out how to setup DNS, NIS, Firwall and set up a Apache web server on Red Hat Linux 6.1, it doesn't tell you any. So if you are a system administrator and try to learn how to set up your Linux as a server, I would not recommend buying this book.
