Product Review
This guide lives up to the promise of all of Sams Publishing's Unleashed titles: it is a comprehensive, solutions-oriented guide to the Notes universe that every serious Notes user, Notes application developer, and Notes administrator will want to have at their fingertips. At well over 1,100 pages, Lotus Notes and Domino Server 4.6 Unleashed covers a lot of ground. Some chapters provide just a flavor of a topic. For example, the chapter on using Java in the Domino environment teaches you how to include an existing Java applet within your Notes-generated Web pages and outlines what you need to know to go further with the Java programming language in a Notes context. However, it won't make you a Java programmer overnight.
The book represents the application environment well, including many resourceful discussions of the object-oriented features of the environment, a long section devoted to LotusScript, and information on administration and security topics, which provide a thorough grounding for maintaining and scaling a large, enterprise Notes installation. The enclosed CD-ROM features a copy of the book in Acrobat format and Notes database format for easy online access directly within the Notes environment.
Although there is a comprehensive overview of the Notes client environment in the beginning of the guide, Lotus Notes and Domino Server 4.6 Unleashed will overwhelm the casual, client-only Notes user. Anyone else looking to work more seriously with Notes and Domino, however, will be glad to have this book on their bookshelf.

Customer Reviews & Comments
I had the 4.5 version of this book, and am happy I bought the new version, but for mine I wished there was alot more coverage of new 4.6 features for development. But at this stage there ain't alot of choices available for books on 4.6. Otherwise it is very thorough, and covers alot of ground. Having the CD containing the book content in a Notes database is very handy.
