About The Author
Keir Thomas is an award-winning author who has written several best-selling beginning-level Linux titles for Apress. A former computer magazine editor, he has been writing about computers, operating systems, and software for a decade. He has also edited many computing titles.
Keir currently works as a full-time author and has written four books for Apress. He lives on the side of a mountain in England, and his hobbies include hiking and playing musical instruments.
Jaime Sicam is currently spending his time trying to find the meaning of his life while he occasionally works as an IT instructor. Prior to his hiatus from working full time, he indulged himself as one of the system administrators in the engineering team of DTG (Defender Technologies Group, LLC). They support clients that trust DTG to manage their system infrastructure.
Jaime takes pride in being part of ASTI–DOST (Advanced Science and Technology Institute) for three–and–a–half years on the Bayanihan Linux project, a Filipino project that aims to provide a cost–effective alternative to the high cost of acquiring software licenses. His team advocated the use of open source software by producing a Filipino home brew of the Linux desktop customized to the computing needs of government agencies, schools, and small and medium–size enterprises. They also conducted training and seminars on various open source software across the Philippines.
He finds joy in listening to the podcasts of Leo Laporte, playing games on the Wii, and keeping up to date on news of the Utah Jazz.
