About The Author
Paul Sanghera is a lecturer in computer science at San Jose State University and an instructor at Brooks College. He is an expert in Java technologies, and TCP/IP networking and has contributed to the development of technologies such as Netscape Browser and Novell's NDS. He has several industry certifications including Sun Certified Business Component Developer, Sun Certified Java Programmer, CompTIA Network+, and CompTIA Linux+. As a senior software engineer and an engineering manager, he has been at the ground floor of several startups such as WebOrder and mp3.com. He lives in Silicon Valley, California.

I looked at the Head First series equivalent of this book and decided I could do without the nonsense and comedy. This book is straight forward and comparable to the Sybex series (which I had originally wanted, but after months of delay was finally cancelled by the publisher). In preparation for the test I actually only covered 11 of the 14 chapters in depth (last 2 I glazed over and didn't have time to study b/c of travel requirements and the first one isn't actually on the test). Given this, as I went in to take the exam I feared the worse; however, the material I had covered prepared me enough that I was surprised I didn't actually ace the test upon completion. I passed with an 80%. This is also a great reference book.
