About The Author
Karl Barksdale was a Development Manager for the Training and Certification team at WordPerfect Corporation and a Marketing Manager in the Consumer Products division. Prior to his stint at WordPerfect, he obtained a master's degree in curriculum from the University of Utah and applied his degree as the Secondary Curriculum Coordinator for Provo School District. Later he returned to education as a Business Education instructor. Since that time he has authored more than 50 business and computer education textbooks for South-Western Educational Publishing, Course Technology, Speaking Solutions, and other publishers. His last 40 titles were voice-written using Dragon NaturallySpeaking. Barksdale is the co-founder of the Summer of Speech training programs credited with training more than 10,000 Business Education instructors in the skills needed to teach speech recognition, handwriting recognition, and other DigiTools successfully. Mr. E. Shane Turner is currently a senior software engineer for a benefits management company based in Utah. He has written many textbooks for Thomson as well as written numerous software reviews for three on-line computer magazine publications. Mr. Turner was first introduced to HTML in 1994 while attending classes for his M.S. in Computer Science at Brigham Young University. He has taught Computer Science at both Weaver State University and Colorado Technical University.
