The Web quest takes on new directions in this variation on research and information gathering, similar to the popular game Clue. The text provides directions for librarians or teachers, complete with recommended Web sites, for finding solutions to the crimes. These instructions explain the level of difficulty for each group of mysteries, give advice for solving them, and state the objectives–to find, recognize, and use information. A memorandum for young researchers follows, accompanied by notes from Detective Ace Primo's own notebook. Internet and print-source navigation manuals prepare readers for the detective work to begin. Grouped by level of difficulty, the selections include eight easy mysteries that provide a list of Web sites to use, eight intermediate ones that expand searches utilizing additional tools, and eight difficult searches requiring initiative and lots of intuition. By searching with Internet tools and paper sources, students can determine how truthful and substantive suspects' alibis are and solve the crime. Sharon Cohen's The Mysteries Of Internet Research is an ideal and highly recommended instructional reference which is confidental recommended to a wide audience of parents, teachers and students as a practical guide to working with young people in an elementary school library setting. The core here are 24 crimes which the young research detective can 'solve' online: students check facts against the Internet for a fun and educational session.
