Are you stumped by how to effectively find the specific information you need on the Internet? This well-researched and practical step-by-step guide is a god-send. This is the reference book for legal and investigative research using the Internet, particularly free and low-cost sites. There is no one place on the Internet that provides comprehensive, intuitively organized, indexed links to sources of public records, and business, legal and topic-specific research. This book does it. It will save you time and eliminate the frustration of Internet hunting. It's as if Carole and Mark have helped organize my brain. --Tamara Thompson, PI Buzz.com

Product Description
The popular Internet research manual The Cybersleuth s Guide to the Internet has been completely updated and expanded. The new 9th edition features extensive reviews of the best investigative and legal research resources available for free on the Internet. Unlike others guides which present sites as little more than a list of links, this book offers tips on how to effectively use those sites and includes over 100 screen-shots to illustrate the step-by-step usage of many of the sites discussed. The new 9th edition, has 40 pages of new information over the 8th edition. Each Web resource discussed in the book has been re-tested and its description updated, as have nearly all of the book s screen shots. The new 9th edition also boasts a new chapter covering free and low-cost Technology Tools & Tips that any professional can use in their business and has also been expanded to include the newest Internet research resources such as Justia and social networking sites. Even with all of this addded information, users can still easily find the web sites they're looking for by jurisdiction, topic (e.g. Class Action resources), or by Web site name, in the guide's comprehensive index. Desite growing by nearly 20% over the previous edition - there is no increase in price. Much of the information that was once only available to professional researchers from expensive, fee-based sources is now available for free on the Internet, if you know how to find it. There's more to conducting a comprehensive search for information on the Internet than just relying on the results returned by search engines, though. The Cybersleuth's Guide to the Internet will show you how to be your own cyber-detective and unearth this information FREE (or at low cost!) on the Web. The Cybersleuth's Guide to the Internet includes numerous examples based on real world research scenarios. Whether you re just starting to use the Internet for serious research or you're a seasoned online research veteran, this book can help you find what you re looking for fast and free.
For the beginning searcher, the book covers many overlooked features of Web browsers, the "mechanics" of navigating the Internet, and basic research strategies and tools.
For "power searchers," The Cybersleuth's Guide to the Internet covers more advanced search strategies, and uncovers tip and tricks for getting the most out of many of the sites.
