"Amid the positive economic climates in most APEJ markets and a large pool of disk storage capacity that remains unconnected to storage area networks (SAN), IDC observed an overall increase in the adoption of networked storage solutions in 1H07. The FC switch market grew 26.2% and 64.9% in terms of factory revenue and unit shipments, respectively, compared with the growth in 1H06. Over the next five years, the APEJ FC switch market is expected to register robust growth in port shipments but with attenuated revenue growth, as margins continue to be pressured by falling price points," says Cheryl Ganesan-Lim, market analyst, Storage, IDC Asia/Pacific.
