Book Description
The nuts and bolts of A/V interconnection from a practical standpoint: that's the focus of this important reference. It expands and updates the bestselling (and now discontinued) publication on the subject from the Society of Broadcast Engineers. As a unique one-stop guide to an increasing complicated environment, it will be of immediate use to telecommunications engineers and technicians working in a rapidly growing field. Includes extensive and invaluable data charts on available wire, cable, and fiber.
Back Cover Copy
The Definitive "Multimedia Age" Guide to A/V Wiring and Cabling! Here's the only guide you'll ever need to the increasingly complex topic of interconnecting A/V systems. Current, comprehensive, and undoubtedly practical, it provides a ready reference that is sure to be of continuing use. Unlike other books which treat the topic more theoretically, this guide clearly explains exactly what to do. It includes extensive and invaluable data charts on currently available wire, cable, and fiber, and covers all major A/V interconnection solutions. The design, installation, and maintenance of audio/video systems have always been dependent upon proper wiring and cabling. However, the current-and anticipated-use of digital video and audio requires large amounts of bandwidth, significantly complicating the technical considerations. This book provides the much-needed nuts-and-bolts information that will allow engineers and technicians to make more intelligent decisions with regard to capacity, speed, and cost parameters as they wire, design, and install modern media systems. ABOUT THE AUTHOR Stephen H. Lampen is a Technology Development Manager at Belden Wire and Cable. He had an extensive career in broadcasting, is an SBE Certified Radio Broadcast Engineer, and holds an FCC General Lifetime License. On the network/data side, he is also a BICSI Registered Communication Distribution Designer (RCDD)..
Customer Reviews & Comments
It is so hard to find anything useful written on the top of audio cabling, especially when so much of it is marketing hype written by people whose understanding of electrical and audio engineering seems to have been derived from a careful study of science fiction. Lampen's book, on the other hand, is a handy, concise, and well illustrated reference for the guy (or gal) who needs to plug one sound creating doodad into another. And it's clear and well-written to boot!
