Product Description
This study examines the Western European market for enterprise resource planning (ERP) applications, which IDC defines as integrated application suites that include as a minimum a combination of accounting, inventory management, procurement, and/or order management functionality.
The Western European market is dissected in terms of the size and growth of individual country markets, and vendors are ranked by country, functional segment, and company size segment. The study also features an IDC Leadership Grid analysis of the top 10 vendors in the Western European ERP applications market.
"ERP market did not develop as positively during 2005 as expected by IDC. The 2.5% growth rate was kept down by market uncertainty following Oracle's acquisition of PeopleSoft and J.D.Edwards as well as the sustained economic slowdown in Italy. SAP ended 2005 as the undisputed market leader with a market share of more than 43%," said Bo Lykkegaard, program manager for European Enterprise Applications at IDC. "Infor took out the last two underperforming top vendors in Europe with its acquisitions of Geac and Systems Union. Now all top vendors have ambitious growth plans and product roadmaps in place, and it all comes down to execution. Timely delivery of products and innovation will be the number one success factor in the ERP market going forward."
