I got this book in November and am glad I did. I previously used another brand of digital single lens reflex camera and needed some serious orientation to both the 40D and the Canon world in general. This book gave me everything I needed. It's packed full of information about setting up and using the camera, recommendations about specific Canon lenses, and has good coverage of getting the best exposure, choosing settings, and so forth. This soon after the 40D was introduced there is not alot available on the camera, so I was pleased to find this one. I didn't want a DVD or ebook or anything with only b/w illustrations. This one is in full color with pretty good illustrations, too. I especially liked the sections on setting up the camera with Picture Styles, which was a new concept for me. All the possible settings you can make in all the menus, with their options and parameters are carefully explained. I learned a few things from the chapter on working with light, even though I am fairly experienced with photography. The Canon EOS 40D is a notch above the entry level cameras in price, but way ahead of them in features, so the availability of a comprehensive guidebook like this one made me much happier about my decision. I recommend it highly!
