If your self-motivated and want an EXCELLENT introduction to Crystal Reports-BUY THIS BOOK! This book is straight foward and to the point. If you're looking for fancy pictures and stylized pages look elsewhere but if you're looking to get a comprehensive introduction to Crystal, this is the one. This book takes your through a plethora of lessons and HANDS-ON excercises. After finishing this book I no longer felt like a newbie. I bought their second book, "Crystal Report 10, Power User Workshop," I'll let you know what I think in a future review.
