Product Description
Now in its third edition, Optical Document Security has transformed from a compilation of related topics on the subject, to a comprehensive and cohesive treatment of all aspects of optical document security written by a leading expert with decades of experience. This completely revised and updated edition brings you to the cutting-edge of this field, with new coverage of paper-based security, printed security, security evaluation and features, and biometrics.
From substrate security and security printing techniques, to optically variable devices based on diffraction and interference of light, the book offers and in-depth understanding of the enormous variety of document security features and issues that are critical in the field today. Not only do you learn about the physics of each document security feature, you explore its value in resisting counterfeiting and forgery. Moreover, this unique resource examines the aspects of security design and human factors of first line document inspection. The book contains over 150 illustrations, including actual security documents, and features an invaluable appendix with samples of important security features.
CD-ROM Included! Features scores of full-color sample images that support key topics discussed throughout the book.

Customer Reviews & Comments
This review is from: Optical Document Security (Artech House Optoelectronics Library) (Hardcover)
The value of color copiers and high resolution computer peripherals to counterfeiters is immense. The optical tricks described in this book are an effort to tilt advantages toward legitimate document producers. The highlight of the book is a stunning display of banknotes, doucments and ID cards. It clearly shows the advantage of kinegrams over traditional holograms and color-change films. Theoretical explanations of gratings, interferometric films, holograms and other devices is a pleasant complement to the practical information on implementation of these systems. I recommend this book to anyone who is responsible for product piracy control. It also is a good read for optical engineers who are interested in applications.
