Updated to include the most current technologies, with a new chapter on securing your PC and small network, CompTIA A+ 2006 In Depthtakes you from the "just-a-user" level to the "I-can-fix-this" level on all PC hardware and software matters. Coverage is balanced. While focusing on new hardware and software, the text also covers the real work of PC repair, where some older technology remains in widespread use and still needs support. It also covers all operating systemsevery Windows® OS, as well as Linux® and Mac® OS. All the content that relates to CompTIA's A+ Essentials, 220-602, 220-603, and 220-604 certification exams is highlighted with an A+ icon that denotes the exam name and the objective number that the content refers to. This unique feature highlights the relevant content at a glance so that you can pay extra attention to this material, but it also helps put exam information into context. Customer Reviews & Comments
This book was essential for me to pass the 220-601 and 220-602 CompTIA A+ exam. Dr. Andrews gives an in-depth and easy to read analysis of what is required for the exam and to be a successful field or remote technician. The only thing I suggest for anyone planning to take the exam is that this book is big and heavy and covers all material involved with this subject. There is a lot of material to cover (1200 pages, actually.) because it contains information involving all four exams (You only need two to pass.). Also, the information pretaining to 220-601 and 220-602 is spread out over all twenty-two chapters! Take some time to break down the exam objectives before taking on this monster--reading straight through will drive you nuts. Since the A+ has just recently been updated, there aren't many options for study material yet. This book is definately the best price at only forty dollars and, in my opinion, the best choice because the amount of material it covers. I'd love to see a few cram books based on this material geared toward the specific exams for A+, but other than that, an extremely useful and exceptional study tool.
