Design, configure, and troubleshoot the world's most popular routers with this clear, illustrated guide, now updated in a brand new second edition. Written by two Cisco experts, including the first person outside of Cisco Systems to earn a CCIE, this indispensable and hands-on reference will show you everything you need to know to configure and route data over the Internet. Including practice exercises to help you prepare for the CCIE exam plus new material covering the IS-IS routing protocol, DDR configurations, and updates of many other topics, this book will show you how to: - Understand network routing at both theoretical and practical levels
- Select and configure the appropriate protocol (OSPF, RIP, RIPv2, IGRP, EIGRP, IS-IS)
- Install and implement IP routing protocols in small, medium, and large scale networks
- Handle static routing, remote access connectivity, dial-on-demand routing, and multiple interior routing protocols
- Route redistributions protocols within a network
- Monitor, debug and troubleshoot a Cisco-routed network
Whether you're preparing for the tough CCIE lab exam, expanding a network, or just trying to avoid congestion, this book is the most authoritative reference on the market.
Customer Reviews & Comments
This review is from: Advanced IP Routing in Cisco Networks (Paperback)
Being most excellent practical introduction into IP routing I have ever seen the book covers most of the cases which you might encounter in a mid-sized network or on a CCIE exam. All the cases are well illustrated and complemented with real configurations and printouts. For me the most remarkable part of the book is Chapter 6 - "Integrating Multiple Routing Protocols". If you're a looking from theoretical prespective or a start-up book on IOS - this is the wrong book for you. I have to say that there are two major issues that are not covered - large and complex OSPF networks and the secrets and mysteries of BGP. Anyway, if I have to buy this book once again - I'll do it! Add (do not substitute) to it the information from Cisco's web site and you're all set! Good luck!
