If your paperback copy of Dreamweaver 3 Bible is dog-eared or you're delving into the more advanced realms of Web site production, this hardcover Gold version might be just the thing for you. It contains all of the material that the "non-Gold" edition has, and it sets a good foundation for beginners and intermediates by clearly explaining the work environment, tools, and features: frames, tables, forms, objects, behaviors, how to integrate Shockwave and Flash, how to work with layers, how to create templates, how to use the Library, and more.
The new material in this version shows how to integrate and access databases from within your Dreamweaver documents by using different methods--UltraDev, ColdFusion, Lasso Studio, and Tango. A new chapter introduces the latest frontier in Web design--the wireless platform--and shows how to use the Nokia WML Studio extension for Dreamweaver. Another chapter introduces Andromedia Aria, and shows how to tailor tracking and site analysis.
The new 32-page color section not only provides more detailed screen shots for different features that are covered in the text, but also shows off several sites that were created by using Dreamweaver. Dreamweaver has quickly become one of the more popular web design toold available. Its concept of web design with minimal coding appeals to many new designers. This is also a downfall, especially with more experienced designers who like to type all their code themselves. Most of the books available for Dreamweaver have focused on how to use the basic functions of Dreamweaver, ignoring things like database connectivity with ColdFusion. This book not only covers the basics of HTML, but it goes into some more advanced topics like CF. I would reccomend this book to anyone who is serious about web design with Dreamweaver.
