Product Description
Perfect for systems and network administrators migrating from Windows NT to Linux, or experimenting with bringing Linux into their network topology. Even novice users will find plenty of helpful information on administering the open source operating system--including installation, initial configuration, using the bash command shell, managing files, managing software, and granting rights to users.
Customer Reviews & Comments I'm a pretty good windows jock who actually writes batch code to get things done. My company recenty started using RedHat and it took me a while to find a book focused on RedHat Linux that presented topics in a clear and cohesive manner. The organization is good and the writing style clear. Honestly, if I had actually picked up this book first, I would have been far more willing to try RedHat on my own time before having it forced onto me at the office. Highlights: good for windows jocks needing to understand how Linux is put together; very clear and easy to read No real gripes. The cover is kind of obnoxious but on the other hand, it never gets lost under my messy desk. :)
