    Product Description

Are you an IT professional involved in deploying the iPhone and or iPad in your company or organization? Do you have fellow employees who are eager to use their iPhones and iPads for work? Then this is the book for you. Enterprise iPhone and iPad Administrators Guide provides step-by-step instructions on how to deploy and integrate the iPhone within a range of professional environmentsfrom large businesses and educational institutions to medium-sized offices. This book ensures that the process is achieved in a streamlined, efficient, and cost-effective manner.

The guide begins with an introduction to basic deployment concerns, then moves into actual methods and tools that you can use to streamline the deployment process. Next, an in-depth discussion of configuration and provisional profiles helps you deliver solid device setup, security, and adherence to organization policies. Finally, youll learn how to use existing help desk teams to provide effective user support. Also included is coverage of the latest iPhone- and iPad-specific enterprise technologies (such as push notification and calendaring tools) as well as internal iPhone and iPad applications and web-based solutions for businesses.

    • Use the iPhone and iPad built-in client management capabilities.
    • Support iPhone- and iPad-specific services both inside and outside of a private network, provisioning security profiles and applications to users.
    • Provide effective user support, both in the office and in the field.

    Customer Reviews & Comments
I have had a great experience with A-press in the past. This title lived up to my expectation. This book is a good read for those with light-moderate experience configuring and administering iOS devices in an enterprise setting. iOS has many frustrating features for systems administrators, but the author covers these issues well. Pay close attention to this book as it contains a lot of good information, but a lot of it is buried alongside the common sense items and can easily be overlooked. Depending on your deployment plans and/or environment, some of the material will not likely apply to your particular implementation, but that is to be expected in any environment. There are lots of examples and detailed instructions for configuring and using functions within iOS, though at times it seems to be written for complete beginners rather than experienced systems administrators. Still, there is useful information to be had in this book. You just have to dig a little bit. The coverage of Mass-Deployment was excellent and detailed many pros/cons of available management systems. The detailed configuration guides and analysis of the Over-the-Air systems was a pleasant surprise and adequately weighs the pros and cons of each system. Advanced users might be disappointed to find that several pages are dedicated to configuring OS X Server in relation to iOS rather than configuring iOS itself, but that can be overlooked as a necessary step considering the subject matter and goals laid out by the author. Overall, the book was a good overview of configuring iOS within enterprise, and I'm looking forward to a second edition as iOS matures.
