    Customer Reviews & Comments
If you are looking at buying this book you probably already know much of what it contains. Not detailed enough to be a "how-to" book for beginners, or a technical referance for the advanced.... It contain some worthwhile tips and introduces a lot of concepts. You will need to buy other books to fill in the details. The chapters are short and to the point... without actually making the points required to build a CNC machine. Stepper motors are covered in under two pages, Drives in less then a page, and no details on how you would choose one and match another to it. Mach3 control software is discussed (in less than a page) as the most popular controller software available... and since we now know this we might as well assume you can implement it on your own and move on to something else. CNC Machining Handbook does have a pretty good discussion of G/M-codes and the G81,82,83 canned drilling cycles... though if you are looking for this I'm not sure why you would buy this book. It also has a general discussion and pictures for building a Plasma Cutting Table with some general construction tips. As a primer, for directions, or as a reference, The CNC Cookbook and surfing the internet would probably serve most people better.
